Today we’re featuring Patrick, who joined the UpShift team in January 2014 as a designer. Since then, Patrick has worked on various branding and marketing projects for E2 Apartments, NewCity, Weber and The Merion. Currently, Patrick is contemplating a place to hang a hammock in UpShift’s office to be able to work on even more projects.
What made you get into design?
I was always arranging and rearranging things as a kid so getting paid to do it seemed like a good idea. It has worked out well so far.
Where did you go to school?
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Visual Communications
What is your favorite typeface?
Well, that depends on the application but I am a big fan of Archer by Hoefler & Co.
If you weren’t a designer, what would you be doing?
Is getting paid to watch Neflix a thing? But seriously, I would probably be a physical therapist.
Tell us one thing we wouldn’t know about you otherwise?
Before I broke my collarbone, I was a US National Champion target archer on track to make the Junior US Archery Team.
Favorite hangout when not at UpShift?
On the weekends you can usually find me at Montrose Beach and enjoying the lakefront parks.
