Say Hi to Kathy

Today, we’re featuring Kathy, a talented designer who has been part of the UpShift team since October 2013. Recently, Kathy has been instrumental on these key projects: Jeff Jack Apartments marketing, the Ventura Foods website, and helping us design responsive website interfaces.

What made you get into design?
To tell stories and communicate ideas worth sharing; to think in ways both logical and creative; to view the world in new and unexpected ways; to create, create, create.

Where did you go to school?
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, School of Art & Design.

What is your favorite typeface?
Generally a fan of anything monospaced. Right now I also really enjoy Lust by Positype.

If you weren’t a designer, what would you be doing?
I’d be a writer or journalist. Still telling stories but with more words.

Tell us one thing we wouldn’t know about you otherwise?
My emotional doppelganger is Aubrey Plaza. Also, I might be a wizard.

Favorite hangout when not at UpShift?
For recreation: Palmer Park or Humboldt Park.
For recreational drinking: Whirlaway Lounge or Table, Donkey and Stick.
